Lehtonen Konepaja received a new address, Lekokatu 2, when the City of Kokemäki constructed a new street in Peipohja’s Haanmäki area between the former Peipohja School lot and Highway 2. During the street construction, water, sewer, and district heating works were carried out in the area.
The production and delivery facilities of the machine shop have been located on Haanmäentie for decades. Lehtonen Konepaja’s history in Kokemäki began in 1946, when the machine shop’s founder, Arvo Lehtonen, purchased a lot in Peipohja. The first machine shop building was erected on the lot in 1948, and since then, the company has grown and expanded significantly.
Today, the site and its surroundings house not only administrative and personnel buildings but also machining facilities, an assembly hall, a welding hall, a painting facility, logistics halls, sandblasting and finishing halls, and storage spaces. The old Peipohja school building and its lot are also part of Lehtonen Konepaja’s factory area.
Lekokatu is named after Lehtonen Konepaja, and the administrative company LEKO Group Oy, founded by the company, as well as LEKO Fans Oy, a member of the machine shop group, also operate at Lekokatu 2. The former address, Haanmäentie 31, is now Lekokatu 2.
